During a Congressional hearing in January, General Motors‘s CEO Dan Akerson said:
“Although we loaded the Volt with state-of-the-art safety features, we did not engineer the Volt to be a political punching bag. Sadly, that is what it’s become.”
On March 7th, in San Francisco, the CEO met with about 30 Chevrolet Volt owners to answer questions, assure them that the five-week production stoppage was just temporary, and reaffirm the company’s commitment to Chevy Volt electric vehicle.
At the meeting, Dan Akerson said that the automaker will continue to invest in and expand production of the extended-range plug-in electric car.
“We are not backing away from this product”
